Juneberry Table

Restaurant Naming, Branding & Interior Design for an Appalachian-Inspired Dining Destination

PROJECT OVERVIEW

When acclaimed chef and restaurateur Karen Small set out to create a new breakfast and midday restaurant following the success of her beloved Cleveland institution, The Flying Fig, she once again turned to studio Chartreuse to help bring her vision to life. Having previously collaborated with our founder, Charity D'Amato Crawford, on the original Flying Fig identity, Karen trusted our team to develop both the name and the complete brand experience for her newest culinary venture.

The project began with strategic naming and brand development. Inspired by the wild blueberries native to the Appalachian region, studio Chartreuse created the name Juneberry Table—a distinctive, memorable name that reflects the restaurant's connection to Appalachian food traditions, local ingredients, and seasonal dining.

From there, our team developed a comprehensive visual identity system that captured the warmth, authenticity, and handcrafted nature of the Juneberry experience. The branding extended across logos, typography, menus, signage, apparel, packaging, and a variety of customer-facing touchpoints, creating a cohesive and recognizable presence both inside and outside the restaurant.

Beyond the branding, studio Chartreuse played a significant role in shaping the physical environment of the space. Working closely with the ownership team, contractors, and fabricators, we helped guide interior design decisions including finishes, fixtures, furnishings, environmental graphics, and customer experience elements. One of the most distinctive features of the restaurant is a custom mural designed and hand-painted by our team, serving as both a focal point and a visual expression of the restaurant's Appalachian roots.

The result is a thoughtfully branded dining destination where storytelling, design, hospitality, and food come together to create a memorable guest experience. Today, Juneberry Table has become one of Cleveland's most celebrated restaurants, known for both its distinctive culinary point of view and its welcoming, highly curated atmosphere.

By integrating branding, environmental design, and hospitality-focused storytelling, studio Chartreuse helped create a restaurant experience that feels authentic, memorable, and deeply connected to the spirit of Appalachian cuisine and culture.
